Mark Vincent Lincir, Acclaimed Soccer Writer and Coach, Passes Away at 56

Mark Vincent Lincir, aged 56, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on October 15, 2025. He was born on April 17, 1969, in San Pedro, California, to Nick and MaryJane Lincir. He is survived by his devoted wife, Taffy, his loving son, Isaac, his sister Lisa, his uncle Vince, as well as his nieces Katie and Camille, his nephew Duke, and his beloved dogs Harley, CC, and Frank the Frenchie.

Lincir was a proud alumnus of Bishop Montgomery High School and Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he obtained a degree in Journalism. His talent for storytelling led him to a successful career as a writer for 90 Minutes Soccer and he authored three books: The Gift of Stoppage Time, A Soccer Life in Shorts, and Frank Loves Everything.

A passionate soccer enthusiast, Mark was more than just a fan; he was an exceptional player, a dedicated coach, and an inspiring mentor. Through his work with Ethos Sports & Education, he spent thirteen years traveling to over twenty countries, positively impacting the lives of countless young athletes who shared his passion for soccer and his belief in the transformative power of education. His mentorship guided many in their pursuit of both athletic and academic excellence.

Mark”s influence and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Services honoring his life will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 1292 W. Santa Cruz St., San Pedro, with a reception following at Port Town Brewery in San Pedro. A Celebration of Life is also planned in Arizona, with further details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mark”s memory to a youth sports charity, either locally or globally, or to AGCFA (Access Granted, Camp for All) at accesscamp.org.
