The Punjab Education Ministry has announced a plan to outsource colleges that have been struggling with low enrollment rates, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel. This decision comes as part of broader efforts to rationalize the educational landscape in the province.
As part of this initiative, the Ministry will also take action against institutions and faculty members involved in fraudulent enrollment practices. The Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, stated that the rationalization process will extend to college teachers, with over 750 educators being assessed based on their respective enrollment figures.
The rationalization policy specifically targets surplus teaching staff, aligning with the student-teacher ratio in colleges with low student numbers. Minister Hayat highlighted that colleges facing severe enrollment issues will be subject to outsourcing, including both general and commerce colleges.
Teachers are being given a three-month window to improve enrollment figures. The Education Minister made it clear that strict measures will be implemented against any colleges or educators found to be engaging in deceptive enrollment activities.
In a related development, the Education Minister mentioned that certain commerce colleges are being transformed into e-commerce institutions, reflecting a shift towards more modern educational offerings.
