Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals Launches New Facility in Chennai for Integrative Care

Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, part of the Apollo Hospitals Group, has opened a new 35-bed flagship facility on Greams Road in Chennai. The inauguration took place on Monday and was led by Prathap C. Reddy, the founder-chairman of the Apollo Hospitals Group. This new center aims to extend the group”s integrated healthcare services from its existing campus.

This facility is designed to bolster the application of precision Ayurveda, an evidence-based healthcare approach that integrates traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern medical protocols. The hospital will provide both in-patient and out-patient services for various health issues, such as orthopedic and neurological conditions, metabolic and respiratory disorders, women”s health, pediatric developmental challenges, chronic wounds, ano-rectal issues, sports injuries, and skin conditions.

During the inauguration, Karen Sternfeld, a para-archer representing Team USA and a patient with multiple sclerosis, shared her personal journey with therapy at Apollo AyurVAID. As a wheelchair user, she highlighted how the coordinated care she received across different specialties significantly improved her mobility and management of her condition. She expressed optimism about her future participation in the 2028 Paralympics.

Susmitha Chandran, the primary physician and medical superintendent of Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, emphasized the critical need for rehabilitative healthcare. She pointed out that long-term, multidisciplinary support is essential for patients dealing with chronic and degenerative conditions.

Rajiv Vasudevan, managing director and CEO of Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, elaborated on the facility”s commitment to integrative healthcare. He described this model as combining the precision of Ayurveda with the scientific rigor of contemporary medicine. This approach focuses on holistic health, addressing not only symptoms but also the underlying causes of diseases to foster prevention, recovery, and sustained well-being.

The facility will also introduce the “Tested Safe” AyurVAID range of classical Ayurvedic medicines, medical foods, and over-the-counter formulations, all of which undergo stringent testing. Safety reports for these products will be readily accessible through QR codes.

Among the attendees at the event was Preetha Reddy, executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, who joined in celebrating this significant addition to the healthcare landscape.
