Economy Minister Discusses Ongoing Reforms for Self-Employed Workers

Carlos Cuerpo, the Minister of Economy, addressed the ongoing reforms concerning self-employed workers during an appearance on “La hora de la 1.” This week, the reform has emerged as a significant topic, prompting numerous government officials to express their views.

Cuerpo highlighted that a substantial portion of the self-employed sector is satisfied with the reform, stating, “The sector is experiencing a very positive moment, a contrast to what we have seen in previous years.” He noted that this feedback comes directly from the associations representing these workers.

Moreover, he assured the public that the reform process has been approached with a “balanced perspective, avoiding negative impacts on the community,” which aligns with the trend of reduction seen over the past three years.

Cuerpo clarified that the decision-making process is not unilateral, as it involves contributions from all stakeholders. “We need to continue progressing to provide more opportunities for this sector while ensuring that self-employed workers acquire their rightful rights,” he stated, reiterating this point at the conclusion of his remarks to emphasize its importance.
