El Gran Wyoming, the host of “El Intermedio” on La Sexta, delivered a strong message to Spanish political parties regarding the legacy of the terrorist group ETA. On October 20, a date that marks the 14th anniversary of ETA”s declaration to cease its armed activities, Wyoming paid tribute to those who fought against the group.
During his prime-time broadcast, Wyoming emphasized the importance of recognizing the individuals and groups that contributed to the end of ETA”s violence. He stated, “We must thank the State Security Forces, journalists, civil society, and all politicians who advocated for peace, even at the risk of their lives.” He noted that the victims of ETA should not be used as political tools.
Having lived through the darkest periods of ETA”s reign, Wyoming expressed a sense of relief over the cessation of violence but also frustration that some continue to invoke ETA and its victims for political gain. “These are individuals with names and identities who suffered violence,” he remarked, underscoring the human cost of terrorism.
He further pointed out that the defeat of ETA conveyed a significant message: “Anyone can defend their position within the framework of democracy and coexistence.” Wyoming concluded by stating that no one longs for the return of ETA, emphasizing the critical need to remember history to prevent its repetition.
After his monologue, the show transitioned to current events, where co-host Sandra Sabatés was scheduled to discuss recent news. However, Wyoming interjected to address a significant incident involving Amazon”s services, expressing his astonishment over the widespread outages affecting payment terminals, ATMs, and smart devices like Alexa.
