The Punjab Education Department has announced a set of new and more stringent policies for all government colleges within the province. These regulations, reported by 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday, include the introduction of fines for absenteeism, mandatory attendance requirements, and updated academic standards for students.
Under the revised guidelines, students who fail in two or more subjects, receiving an “F” grade, will not be eligible for promotion to the admission board. Additionally, fines have been established for students who miss exams. A penalty of Rs. 200 will be levied for each paper missed during the December and pre-board exams, while a Rs. 100 fine will apply for each monthly test missed. Students failing to present a valid medical certificate for their absence will receive a failing grade.
Attendance has been made compulsory for all monthly, December, and pre-board examinations. The Education Department has set a minimum attendance requirement of 75 percent; those who do not meet this threshold will not receive roll number slips for their exams. Furthermore, any incidents of cheating or misconduct during examinations will be addressed by the respective College Council, whose decisions will be considered final as per the circular.
