Patricia Campos-Medina Recognized as Changemaker Champion by YWCA New York

Patricia Campos-Medina, who graduated with a bachelor”s degree in 1996 and a master”s degree in public administration in 1997, will be honored as a Changemaker Champion by the YWCA of the City of New York. The recognition will take place on October 22 during the Salute Gala fundraising event.

The YWCA”s annual award celebrates individuals whose “bold leadership drives equity and opportunity for women and communities,” according to Alba Rodriguez, CEO of the YWCA of the City of New York. Campos-Medina serves as the executive director of the ILR Worker Institute and is a senior extension associate.

At the gala, other award recipients will include Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York; Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and Moms First; Tameka Alsop, chief administrative officer for Moody”s; and Cora Walter, general manager of Brooklyn/Queens Overhead and Services for Con Edison.

Rodriguez highlighted the importance of recognizing leaders who effect change, stating, “For the young people in our program, seeing a Latina woman, an immigrant, leading and effecting change in her field – it shows them what”s possible.”
