Madrid”s Political Shift Calls for Housing Minister”s Resignation Amid Crisis

Más Madrid has aligned with Sumar in urging the resignation of Housing Minister Isabel Rodríguez, citing her inability to resolve Spain”s housing crisis. During a recent appearance on the program “Todo es Mentira” on Cuatro, spokesperson Verónica Barbero emphasized the need for “serious, brave, and innovative measures,” expressing concern that Rodríguez may not fully grasp the gravity of the situation.

Barbero further stated, “We want her to respond individually to the proposals made by Sumar. If she lacks ideas, we are ready to share ours.” This statement has sparked significant discussion, particularly as inquiries were made regarding whether other party members also support the call for the minister”s resignation.

In a related comment, Tesh Sidi remarked, “This is the legislature of housing.” He reiterated that since the Socialist Party assumed control of the Housing Ministry, it has been clear that the issue must be addressed, as it impacts all generations. He pointed out the challenges of collaborating with the Popular Party, particularly concerning housing legislation and the acquisition of properties from investment funds.

Sidi criticized the government”s approach as trivializing the proposals from the Tenants” Union, asserting that the political landscape could shift significantly by 2030. He questioned the extent of government intervention in the housing market, urging the minister to recognize that collaboration with the Popular Party is not feasible.

Despite avoiding a direct confirmation of his support for the resignation proposal, Sidi concluded with a stark assertion: “If we cannot achieve results in this legislature, we must act decisively to counter the extreme right”s offensive.”
