Police Search for Driver After Edinburgh Hit-and-Run Incident

Authorities in Edinburgh are actively searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon. The event took place around 1 PM on October 22, when a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Liberton Road and Gilmerton Road.

This incident follows a brief police pursuit of the vehicle, which failed to stop for officers prior to the collision. The occupants of the car fled the scene immediately after the crash. A spokesperson for Police Scotland provided details, stating, “Around 1 PM on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, a pedestrian was struck by a car at the junction of Liberton Road and Gilmerton Road in Edinburgh. The car had failed to stop for officers, and a short pursuit followed just prior to the crash. The occupants left the scene, and officers are following a positive line of inquiry, which is continuing. The male pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment.”

A representative from the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed, “We received a call at 12:58 to attend a road traffic collision on Liberton Road, Edinburgh. We dispatched an ambulance and a paramedic response unit to the scene and transported one patient to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
