Telangana Aims to Establish Global Life Sciences Hub, Minister Highlights Plans

During a keynote address at the AS Biotech conference held in Melbourne, Australia, Telangana Minister Sridhar Babu articulated the state government”s vision to position Telangana as a prominent global hub for life sciences. Minister Babu emphasized the significant advancements made in the life sciences sector and detailed the strategic initiatives aimed at attracting more investments.

Currently, Telangana accounts for 5 percent of India”s GDP, with its Gross Value Added (GVA) surpassing the national average in the previous financial year. In an impressive development, the state has attracted investments totaling ₹3.2 lakh crore within a short span of one and a half years.

Looking forward, the Minister has set an ambitious goal of creating a life sciences sector valued at $250 million within the next five years. He also announced the forthcoming introduction of a new policy designed to support this objective. Babu pointed out that Hyderabad stands out as the only Indian city listed in the Global Life Sciences Atlas, highlighting its crucial role in the global life sciences landscape.

“We are also dedicated to preparing our youth with the necessary skills and resources for the bio-digital era,” stated Babu, reinforcing Telangana”s commitment to becoming a leader in life sciences innovation and investment.
