Canadian Privacy Bill May Introduce Age Limits for Chatbots

Evan Solomon, Canada”s Artificial Intelligence Minister, has announced that his forthcoming privacy legislation may incorporate age restrictions for chatbots. This initiative aims to enhance protections for children interacting with these technologies.

In addition to age limits, Solomon is contemplating the inclusion of provisions that would grant individuals the right to request the removal of deepfake content. He emphasizes that while he remains opposed to a broad regulatory framework for artificial intelligence, he is receptive to addressing specific, pressing concerns within the sector.

Solomon has engaged with a variety of stakeholders, soliciting input from both the public and a panel of experts tasked with revising Canada”s strategy on artificial intelligence. To date, approximately 6,500 Canadians have contributed their views during the government”s consultation process.

This report was initially published by The Canadian Press on October 24, 2025, highlighting ongoing discussions about the implications of AI technologies in society.
