Professors Debate Which Discipline to Save in Apocalypse Scenario

In a thought-provoking event, five professors from various disciplines will engage in the annual Apocalypse Debate, scheduled for 5 p.m. on November 6 in Room G01 of Uris Hall. Sponsored by Logos, the undergraduate philosophy journal and club, this debate challenges participants to argue which academic field is most crucial to preserve for future generations.

The scenario presented to the professors is dire: a cataclysmic event will lead to a near-extinction level decline in Earth”s population, with a staggering 99.9% loss. Furthermore, all knowledge accumulated over the last 10,000 years will vanish. However, a group of visionary radicals manages to create an apocalypse-proof box capable of storing the knowledge pertaining to only one subject. The pressing question they face is which discipline deserves to be safeguarded within this box.

This debate serves as an intellectual exercise in not only valuing different fields of study but also reflecting on the role of knowledge in society. Each professor will advocate for their respective disciplines, emphasizing their importance in rebuilding civilization post-apocalypse.
