Feijóo Proposes Tax Relief Plan for Self-Employed Workers

The leader of the Party Popular (PP), Alberto Feijóo, recently unveiled a plan aimed at easing the financial burden on self-employed workers in Spain. During an event attended by freelancers and business owners, Feijóo criticized the current government led by Pedro Sánchez, claiming its policies have created an unbearable situation for small businesses.

Feijóo”s proposal includes a significant measure to exempt individuals earning less than 85,000 euros annually from paying Value Added Tax (VAT). He emphasized that the funds of self-employed workers should not be used to cover excessive government expenses.

According to recent surveys, over 90% of self-employed respondents indicated that political instability is negatively impacting their businesses. In response to these challenges, Feijóo suggested simplifying bureaucratic processes by allowing for a single annual declaration and expanding the definition of a collaborating self-employed worker to include individuals who are not family members. This latter measure is particularly aimed at assisting small businesses that rely on close associates for their operations.

Feijóo remarked on the importance of tax reductions, stating, “Lowering taxes is not an option; it is an obligation.” He characterized the current economic policies as a significant blow to productive sectors and asserted that his plan is specifically designed to support these industries.

Accompanied by the president of Castilla y León, Feijóo reiterated the commitment of the PP to advocate for the interests of the self-employed in the Senate, aiming to ensure their voices are heard and their needs addressed effectively.
