Electricity Prices in Spain on October 26: When to Save and When to Spend

On October 26, consumers in Spain will experience a notable variation in electricity prices, marking the second consecutive drop after three previous declines. Following a rise that pushed rates above 90 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) on the previous Friday, the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE) indicates a mixed outlook for the final weekend of October.

The peak hours for electricity costs will occur from 8 PM to midnight, with the highest rate recorded between 9 PM and 10 PM at 105.37 euros/MWh. This contrasts sharply with the lower price periods that will benefit consumers during the day.

In particular, the afternoon hours prove advantageous, with prices beginning to plummet after 11 AM, reaching remarkably low levels until 5 PM. The price trajectory for the day will be as follows:

  • 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM: 97.49 euros/MWh
  • 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM: 87.50 euros/MWh

  • 4:00 AM to 5:00 AM: 58.55 euros/MWh
  • 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM: 57.58 euros/MWh
  • 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM: 56.24 euros/MWh

  • 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM: 2.26 euros/MWh
  • 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM: 2.42 euros/MWh
  • 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM: 4.98 euros/MWh
  • 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: 8.62 euros/MWh
  • 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM: 19.63 euros/MWh
  • 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM: 48.19 euros/MWh
  • 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: 82.97 euros/MWh
  • 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM: 96.42 euros/MWh
  • 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM: 97.81 euros/MWh
  • 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM: 92.51 euros/MWh

After two days of unfavorable pricing for consumers, this last Sunday of October brings more encouraging news, with several time slots falling below 10 euros/MWh.
