ISRO to Launch Military Communication Satellite CMS-03 on November 2

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the military communications satellite, CMS-03, on November 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre located in Sriharikota. This satellite, also referred to as GSAT-7R, will be deployed using the Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (LVM3).

According to ISRO, CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite designed to offer services across a broad oceanic expanse, including the Indian landmass. Weighing approximately 4,400 kg, it will be the heaviest communication satellite launched to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) from India.

On October 26, 2025, ISRO announced that the launch vehicle had been completely assembled and integrated with the satellite. The vehicle was subsequently transferred to the launch pad for pre-launch preparations.

This upcoming launch marks the first deployment of the LVM3 rocket in over two years. The last mission utilizing this rocket took place in July 2023, when it successfully launched the historic Chandrayaan-3 mission from Sriharikota. ISRO highlighted that this mission made India the first country to achieve a successful landing near the lunar south pole.
