Trump Claims Role in Peace Agreement Between Thailand and Cambodia

Donald Trump has resurfaced in the news following the announcement of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. This treaty, signed in Kuala Lumpur during the ASEAN summit, aims to resolve ongoing border tensions between the two nations.

During the signing ceremony, Trump expressed surprise at the amicable relations developing between the neighboring countries, stating, “I am not used to them getting along.” He went on to assert that he played a significant role in facilitating the end of the conflict, claiming credit for the successful negotiations.

The agreement includes provisions for joint control over information dissemination and initiatives to build trust between Thailand and Cambodia. Both leaders hailed the signing as a demonstration of their commitment to peace in the region.

In addition to the peace talks, Trump met with Lula, the president of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in Malaysia. Lula described their discussion as productive and emphasized the positive nature of their conversation. Following the meeting, Trump expressed optimism about the potential for achieving beneficial agreements.

Mauro Vieira, Brazil”s Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that while concrete agreements were not reached during this encounter, the dialogue was constructive and laid the groundwork for future cooperation.
