OpenAI Launches Free Year of ChatGPT Go Access in India Starting November 4

OpenAI has announced that it will provide free access to its ChatGPT Go service for one year to all users in India who register during a promotional period starting on November 4. This initiative coincides with the company”s inaugural DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru, also scheduled for the same date.

ChatGPT Go is a newly introduced subscription plan that grants users access to a range of advanced features, such as increased message limits, enhanced image generation capabilities, extended memory, and the option to upload more files and images. These enhancements are powered by OpenAI“s latest GPT-5 model. The plan was initially rolled out in India in August following user demands for a more economical option to utilize ChatGPT“s advanced tools. The response has been robust, with the number of paid subscribers in India more than doubling within a month of the launch.

Due to this positive reception, OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT Go to nearly 90 countries globally. Currently, India ranks as the second-largest market for ChatGPT and is among the fastest-growing regions for the platform. Millions of users, including students, professionals, and developers, are actively utilizing ChatGPT on a daily basis for various purposes, including skill acquisition, creative enhancement, and innovative project development.

The promotion reflects OpenAI“s ongoing commitment to an “India-first” strategy and aligns with the government”s IndiaAI Mission, which aims to broaden access to artificial intelligence tools and spur innovation throughout the nation. OpenAI is collaborating with civil society organizations, educational platforms, and government initiatives to enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of AI tools.

Moreover, existing subscribers of ChatGPT Go in India will also qualify for the complimentary 12-month offer, with further details expected to be revealed soon. Nick Turley, Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact of this initiative, stating, “Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we”re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI. We”re excited to see the amazing things our users will build, learn, and achieve with these tools.”
