HPE and NVIDIA to Deliver Advanced Supercomputers for Los Alamos Lab

HPE has announced its selection to develop two cutting-edge supercomputers named “Mission” and “Vision” for the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

The announcement was made during the NVIDIA GTC DC event on October 28, 2025. These next-generation supercomputers will utilize the innovative HPE Cray Supercomputing GX5000 system, which features direct liquid cooling, and will be powered by the forthcoming NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchips.

The deployment of Mission and Vision is part of a broader $370 million investment by the DOE aimed at enhancing scientific research, furthering artificial intelligence initiatives, and reinforcing national security capabilities.

This collaboration underscores the commitment to advancing computational technology, which is critical for the future of AI research and national defense.
