Kerala Government to Review PM SHRI Scheme Implementation Amid Controversies

The government of Kerala has decided to reassess the implementation of the Prime Minister”s Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme following emerging controversies and concerns. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced this decision during a media briefing on Wednesday.

A seven-member cabinet sub-committee has been established to examine how the central school scheme is being implemented in the state. Vijayan indicated that further actions regarding the scheme”s rollout will be paused until the sub-committee delivers its report.

The findings and recommendations from this review will be formally communicated to the central government through an official letter. V Sivankutty, the Minister for General Education, will chair the sub-committee, which includes ministers such as K Rajan, P Rajeeve, Roshy Augustine, K Prasad, K Krishnsnkutty, and A K Saseendran.

Recently, Vijayan has been involved in extensive discussions with leaders from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India to reach a consensus on this issue over the past few days.
