The Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE) is currently hosting its 20th Scientific Conference, themed “Transforming Health through Innovative Research.” This significant event gathers researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates from across Africa, aimed at exchanging scientific insights and bolstering the continent”s capabilities in biomedical and biotechnology fields.
During the conference, Mary Muthoni, who serves as the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards and represents the Cabinet Secretary for Health, emphasized the Ministry”s dedication to utilizing research and innovation to progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC). She highlighted the necessity of improving disease prevention strategies and enhancing preparedness for health emergencies.
Muthoni pointed out that the shifting global health landscape, which encompasses a range of issues from infectious to non-communicable diseases, necessitates collaborative and evidence-based strategies that effectively integrate science, technology, and policy. She urged participants to actively engage, share their knowledge, and establish partnerships that can turn research findings into practical and scalable health solutions.
“Collaboration is key. Together, we can harness our collective expertise to improve health outcomes for all,” she stated.
