New Issue of Journal of Agricultural Research Promotes Agricultural Innovations

The latest edition of the Journal of Agricultural Research (JAR), designated as Volume 63, Issue 3, has been made available online. This publication, which operates under the guidance of the Punjab Agriculture Department, has been consistently issued since 1963.

Dr. Asif Ali, the Director of Agricultural Information and Resident Editor of JAR, along with the editorial team, has reviewed the newly published research articles. He emphasized that this journal is recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the Y-category and has long served as a free online platform enabling agricultural scientists to share their findings, thus enhancing the dissemination of quality research within the scientific community.

Dr. Ali congratulated the authors of the research papers and praised the committed efforts of Editor Muhammad Ishaq Lashari and Assistant Editor Ms. Bushra Tallat. Their team is actively striving to elevate the journal”s status to the X-category. He also expressed gratitude towards agricultural scientists and referees for their collaboration in ensuring timely publication while upholding high research standards.

The new issue of JAR features research on several significant agricultural advancements. Topics include the introduction of a new high-yielding cotton variety, assessments of new chickpea lines across various environments, extraction methods for valuable compounds from agricultural waste, the impact of compost on wheat growth in saline soils, and the advantages of using neem and sulfur-coated urea to boost sugarcane production. Additionally, it discusses the application of potato peel in prolonging the shelf life of apples.

Dr. Ali highlighted that a strategic plan is being effectively executed to enhance citation metrics, indexing, and the journal”s overall classification. He noted that the online publication of top-tier research within an HEC-recognized journal is advantageous not only for agricultural scientists but also for students at agricultural universities and progressive farmers throughout the province.

Moreover, the Directorate of Agricultural Information in Faisalabad is crucial in disseminating details about ongoing agricultural initiatives by the Punjab government. These initiatives promote mechanized farming, the introduction of new crop varieties developed by agricultural experts, and the transfer of modern production technologies to farmers via print, electronic, and social media channels.
