Mysterious Underwater Objects Discovered Off US Coastlines Spark Debate

Tens of thousands of unidentified underwater objects, referred to as Unidentified Submersible Objects (USOs), have been identified near the coastlines of the United States, according to a recent report from a UFO-tracking platform. This surge in sightings has left experts puzzled, as these objects are noted for their extraordinary speeds and ability to maneuver with precision, even transitioning between water and air.

Enigma, a non-partisan organization that claims to maintain the largest historical database of UFO sightings globally, has recorded over 9,000 underwater sightings within a 10-mile radius of US shores since August 2025. Users of this platform have documented these USOs, which are any submerged objects that remain unidentified or unexplained. Witness reports often highlight their remarkable speed and agility, as well as their capability to seamlessly move between aquatic and aerial environments, a trait known as transmedium capability.

Since its inception in 2022, Enigma has cataloged nearly 30,000 UFO sightings worldwide. However, the recent focus on underwater phenomena suggests a shift in public and scientific interest. Of the 9,000 reported underwater sightings, approximately 500 occurred within five miles of US coastlines, with over 150 sightings of objects either hovering above or diving into significant bodies of water. Data indicates that California and Florida lead the statistics, with 389 and 306 sightings, respectively. Several clusters of activity have appeared in specific coastal regions, drawing both public fascination and concern from defense analysts.

Author Kent Heckenlively, known for his book “Catastrophic Disclosure: Aliens, The Deep State and The Truth,” commented on the situation, stating that these reports challenge conventional science and logic. “That”s one of two things,” he remarked. “Either that”s something we don”t understand, or our technology is picking up ghosts underwater.” Heckenlively expressed skepticism about extraterrestrial involvement but believes that there is a significant gap between government disclosures and public awareness. “I”m skeptical of alien stuff,” he confessed, “but I”m convinced the government is lying to us.”

Retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet has raised alarms about the implications of unidentified objects in US waters for maritime security. In a report from 2024, Gallaudet pointed out that these encounters, including the well-known 2019 Pentagon footage showing an unidentified object submerging near the USS Omaha, indicate potential threats that have not been adequately addressed by the government. “Pilots, credible observers and calibrated military instruments have recorded objects accelerating at rates and crossing the air-sea interface in ways not possible for anything made by humans,” Gallaudet stated.

Heckenlively added that if these phenomena are real, the ocean represents an ideal hiding place. “If these things are real, the ocean seems like a great place to hide,” he noted.
