Marvia Perry, Beloved Musician and Grandmother, Passes Away at 84

Marvia Valencia Smith Perry, aged 84, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on December 11, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, and spent her childhood in Hermosa Beach.

After graduating from Redondo Union High School in 1958, where she participated in the Madrigal choir, she became a long-time resident of Rolling Hills, California, before relocating to Las Vegas.

Known for her vibrant personality and love for all things sparkly, Perry was an active member of the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society choir. She showcased her remarkable vocal talents at numerous events, including a performance by the renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli in Las Vegas. Her musical preferences extended beyond classical and opera; she was also an avid fan of the iconic band Queen.

Later in life, she took on the rewarding challenge of learning to play the piano, deepening her connection to music. Perry was easily recognized by her signature rose-colored, heart-shaped glasses, which symbolized her optimistic and loving outlook on life.

To her beloved grandsons, she was affectionately called “Danda,” a name that will evoke cherished memories and smiles for years to come.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 44 years, Robert Lee Perry MD, along with her mother, Josephine Orduño Smith, and father, Marvin Harrison Smith. She is survived by her brother, Marvin P. Smith; daughters, Janet McGlone and Julie Gersh (Howard); and grandsons, Noah, Zachary, Rafferty, Evan, and Perry.
