Soho House has expanded its offerings with the opening of the Barcelona Pool House, a new haven that blends art, gastronomy, and wellness. This establishment is situated in a classic Catalan mansion in the northern part of the city, nestled near iconic sites and facing the Tibidabo hills. This marks the third location for Soho House.
The Pool House features top-notch wellness facilities designed for members to relax and rejuvenate. An outdoor dining space, surrounded by lush gardens and overlooking a swimming pool, complements the wellness amenities. The venue spans four levels and has been restored while maintaining its original design, reflecting Catalan noucentista and modernist styles with European influences.
Many interiors retain their original Georgian tiles, harmoniously blended with pieces sourced from Germany and Paris to preserve the historical essence of the mansion. Members access the club via a grand staircase that leads to the reception area and club, which comprises six distinct rooms and two bars.
The establishment includes a restaurant with both indoor and terrace dining options, treatment rooms with views of Tibidabo, and a gym featuring a studio, steam room, and infrared sauna. Outdoors, members can enjoy a spacious al fresco dining area and a 14-meter swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers and Balinese beds.
The main reception welcomes members with a striking onyx marble counter set against an original stained glass wall, illuminated by a Murano glass lamp inspired by Spanish modernist lighting found throughout the house. The central lobby is adorned with restored frescoes, vaulted ceilings with gold leaf, and original Georgian floors from 1908. Entering this space is akin to stepping back in time, showcasing an eclectic mix of European styles that narrate the history and life of the family that once resided there.
At the end of the lobby, a grand marble staircase spirals upward, embellished with ornamental stucco. To the left lies one of the club”s key areas, featuring pleated fabric details at its base and offering menu service to adjacent rooms. The club itself is divided into six areas, each inspired by its original design and function.
Among the standout spaces is the main bar, which preserves its original parquet flooring and houses a bar surrounded by leather banquettes with views of the pool. The bar”s name is derived from the ceiling frescoes depicting the original family at play. Other rooms draw inspiration from the family”s European travels, including a Parisian-style room with decorative parquet flooring, silk paneling, and original moldings, along with large windows that overlook the pool and Tibidabo.
The restaurant offers an elevated Mediterranean menu featuring classics like Cantabrian anchovies, boquerones, and Iberian charcuterie, alongside a raw bar with oysters, Pyrenean trout, celery, lime, and flamed Iberian pork.
On the first floor, accessible via the main staircase, members will find the House, which boasts an airy layout combined with a dark wood-paneled room, separated by light blue curtains, all set on original English Georgian tiled floors. This venue showcases Soho House“s culinary concept, featuring signature dishes like hamachi with yuzu truffle, beef tataki, and favorites such as chicken karaage and miso black cod. The leather-clad bar serves sake-based cocktails and is the perfect spot for members to enjoy new sushi offerings and the raw bar.
The restaurant extends to a terrace that encircles the building, providing additional dining options. The Soho Health Club, located on the fourth floor, emphasizes regeneration and performance. This space includes treatment rooms offering various therapies and two exclusive Pool House experiences: a treatment performed on a heated HydraTherm bed and a facial developed by Omorovicza. The health club also features advanced therapies such as LED treatments, PEMF mats, and intravenous infusions.
On the ground floor of the house, a gym designed with decorative tiled walls referencing the building”s traditional ceramics includes custom fixtures and terracotta flooring. It opens to a courtyard where weekly classes in a new concept created specifically for Barcelona are held, along with personal training sessions. Members also enjoy additional amenities, including a range of supplements at the gym”s reception.
Just before the gym entrance lies the first fully vegetarian and vegan café of Soho House, offering snacks such as sweet potato pancakes and bowls of cereals with superfoods, ideal for post-workout nourishment.
The ground floor also houses the garden club, where members will find an expansive outdoor dining area with terracotta and limestone flooring, seamlessly integrated into a lush garden that creates a private and intimate atmosphere. This area features a mix of vintage and custom-made furnishings, including upholstered benches with a custom Pierre Frey fabric, arranged around a central bar and an antique fountain. The garden club will also offer a wood-fired oven menu featuring dishes like bone-in ribeye, Mediterranean sole, and oxtail cannelloni.
Members can access the pool area just a few steps from the entrance along a cobblestone path. From there, they can enjoy the house menu and drinks by the pool while also taking in views of the open kitchen.
The art collection at the house comprises over a significant number of pieces, featuring museum-level names alongside emerging talents such as Bea Bonafini, Ana Monsó, Josep Maynou, and Cristina Stolhe. The decorative motifs of the building provide a captivating backdrop for these contemporary artworks. Several pieces have been commissioned or selected to engage in dialogue with the original wall and ceiling decorations, such as the “Polifilia” series on paper by Eva Fàbregas in the salon and the linen paintings by Iván Forcadell in the Fresco Bar.
