SVIMS to Integrate Robotic Surgery Technology Soon

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) is preparing to adopt robotic technology for a variety of surgical procedures across its departments, as announced by Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr RV Kumar.

This announcement came during the 4th Simhadri Satyanarayana Rao Chair Oration, hosted by the Department of Surgical Oncology. The oration, entitled “Decentralising Excellence and Democratising Access: A Bright Future for Healthcare in India,” was presented by Dr Vishwajyoti P Srivastava, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer for SSI Innovations in New Delhi.

In his presentation, Dr Srivastava discussed the advancements in surgical robotics and the increasing accessibility of sophisticated healthcare technologies within India. During this event, Dr Kumar emphasized the necessity for healthcare professionals and students to remain informed about the latest innovations in cancer treatment.

He stated that SVIMS is committed to implementing robotic-assisted surgeries in order to align with global healthcare advancements. On this occasion, Dr Srivastava was honored with a gold medal for his significant contributions to the field of surgical robotics.

Additionally, Dr H Narendra, head of the Surgical Oncology Department, remarked on the successful implementation of robotic surgeries in various hospitals nationwide under Dr Srivastava”s guidance. The event also saw participation from Dr Manilal, a Professor of Surgical Oncology, Dr Alok Sachan, Dean, Dr Aparna Bitla, Registrar, Dr Usha Kalavath, Principal of Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, and other faculty members.
