Dr. Ashokkumar Veeramuthu, a prominent researcher from the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu, has been recognized among the world”s leading scientists for the third consecutive year. This prestigious acknowledgment is published annually by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier Publishers.
Currently serving as the Professor and Head of the Centre for Waste Management and Renewable Energy at Saveetha University in Chennai, Veeramuthu”s research primarily addresses environmental and health issues. His work focuses on waste management, pollution reduction, and the development of sustainable energy solutions.
His research portfolio includes innovative approaches to mitigate plastic pollution, advanced waste management technologies, and the utilization of microalgae for producing clean energy and bioproducts. Veeramuthu”s inclusion in the list for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025 underscores his ongoing contributions to these critical fields.
Over his career, Dr. Veeramuthu has authored more than 130 research articles published in international journals and maintains collaborations with over 18 universities worldwide. He also holds visiting positions at several institutions in Thailand, Malaysia, and South Korea.
Dr. Veeramuthu earned his PhD from the University of Madras in Chennai in 2013, during which he was awarded an Indo-Australian fellowship that allowed him to conduct research at Adelaide University in Australia. His academic qualifications also include an MPhil and MSc in Plant Biotechnology.
In addition to his research activities, Veeramuthu is actively involved in scientific publishing, serving as a guest editor and reviewer for numerous international journals. He is a member of the World Bioenergy Association and various other professional organizations, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in bioenergy and sustainability.
