Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Launches $25 Million Fund for Biology Research

Deepinder Goyal, the founder of the online food delivery platform Zomato, has unveiled a new research initiative named Continue Research, which is backed by a personal investment of $25 million. This announcement was made on his social media platform, where he emphasized that the initiative is entirely self-funded.

The primary objective of Continue Research is to support scientific inquiries that challenge conventional wisdom in biology. Goyal stated, “Today, we are expanding Continue Research to include a $25 million fund (entirely personally backed) to support researchers across the world who dare to ask simpler questions than anyone else. Who believe biology might be far simpler than we”ve made it.” This initiative aims to foster early-stage startups and bolster innovative research.

According to the official website, Continue Research has been operational for two years, focusing on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of biology. The project advocates for a systems approach, positing that biology may be simpler than previously perceived if one considers the entire system rather than dissecting it into smaller parts. Goyal clarified that Continue Research does not operate as a traditional company or startup but functions as both a research entity and a seed funding source.

In his announcement, Goyal addressed frequent inquiries about Continue Research, stating, “What is it? What are you up to? Here you go… Continue started as a research effort two years ago, with the belief that if the human body is a system, it should also have its leverage points.” He noted that the initiative is particularly focused on extending healthy human function, which would allow individuals to make long-term decisions instead of being driven by immediate pressures.

Goyal described the endeavor as a long-term journey aimed at acting as a catalyst for humanity”s conscious evolution, guiding society into what he refers to as the “Post-Darwin era.” Currently, Continue Research is collaborating with various scientists to gain insights into the process of human aging, which Goyal believes has been “hiding in plain sight for eternity.” He hinted at forthcoming announcements, indicating that the project is nearing the conclusion of a research hypothesis that could have revolutionary implications for biology and aging.

Goyal stated, “Along with a team of initially skeptical researchers, we”ve been investigating a penny-drop insight about human ageing. Something that”s been hiding in plain sight for eternity. But more on that in a few weeks. We are at the tail-end of the research on this hypothesis, which if true, could fundamentally change our understanding of biology and ageing.” This bold initiative reflects Goyal”s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and potentially unlocking new avenues for understanding human life and longevity.
