On the evening of October 31, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held an impressive torch march, known as Mashaal Juloos, at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The procession commenced at Ganga Dhaba and concluded at Barak Hostel, attracting hundreds of students from various academic schools and centers within the university.
The event was led by ABVP”s candidates for the central panel, including Vikas Patel for President, Tanya Kumari for Vice President, Rajeshwar Kant Dubey for General Secretary, and Anuj for Joint Secretary. Participants brandished torches while chanting slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram,” creating an electrifying atmosphere across the campus.
Arun Srivastava, the Chief Campaign Coordinator for ABVP JNU, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, stating, “Today, we organized a grand torch march from Ganga Dhaba to Barak Hostel, which witnessed an unprecedented turnout of students. The enthusiasm and participation clearly show that the Left”s dominance in JNU is coming to an end, and ABVP is set to make a strong comeback, winning all four seats in the upcoming JNUSU elections.”
This event reflects a significant moment in the lead-up to the JNUSU elections, illustrating a potential shift in student political dynamics at JNU, traditionally seen as a stronghold of leftist student organizations.
