Alex Rovira Emphasizes Human Values Amid Technological Change

Alex Rovira delivered a compelling keynote address at the Autumn Conference organized by CAPEX, underscoring that genuine change originates from an internal and conscious choice. He emphasized the significance of empathetic leadership and strong organizational culture, asserting that progress necessitates action and a human touch, particularly in an increasingly technological landscape.

During the event held at the Gran Teatro del Cibao in Santo Domingo, Rovira stated, “True change does not come from external sources but from a brave and conscious internal decision.” He pointed out that personal transformation serves as the foundation for collective evolution. Addressing an audience of nearly one thousand, he remarked, “When you treat professionals as professionals, magic happens. What leaders tolerate becomes normalized. Culture has the power to either uphold or dismantle any organization.”

Prior to Rovira”s speech, Miguel Lama Rodriguez, president of the board of FUNCAPEX, acknowledged the overwhelming pace of change in today”s world. He stated, “The feeling of uncertainty about what comes next challenges us as individuals, leaders, and entrepreneurs.” He urged that if Santiago aspires to be a center for development and innovation, it must build a community where meaning and purpose are integral to the equation.

Following this, Alvin Martinez Llibre, executive vice president of AFP Siembra, the main sponsor of the event, introduced Rovira. In his address, Rovira articulated his vision on conscious leadership, personal transformation, and the culture of change. He highlighted that “progress is born from resistance; life does not aim to please us but rather to awaken us, and true transformation occurs through action.” He further elaborated on the distinctions between change, transformation, and meaning, noting that the essence of leadership lies in understanding, care, and love.

Rovira asserted, “Nothing holds true value unless it first passes through the human experience. Artificial intelligence can complement us, but it can never replace empathy, compassion, and the willingness to understand.” He emphasized the critical need to enhance organizational culture and human development in the face of technological advancements.

As an accomplished author of influential works such as “La Buena Suerte,” “Los Siete Poderes,” and “El Laberinto de la Felicidad,” Rovira”s books have been translated into over fifty languages and have touched the lives of millions globally.

Attendees of the conference also enjoyed a performance by the PUCMM Dance Group, which presented “El Guardia del Arsenal,” composed by Dominican musician Luis Díaz. The sponsors of the Autumn Conference included Corporacion Zona Franca Santiago, AFP Siembra, PUCMM Postgrado, Revista Mercado, Banco Popular, Asociacion Cibao de Ahorros y Prestamos, and Kora Café. Through this Autumn Conference of 2025, CAPEX reaffirms its commitment to cultivating leaders, fostering shared knowledge, and promoting a humanistic and transformative approach to organizational and personal development.
