The 88th meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI) took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from October 19 to 24. The event was led by Dr Sai Kyaw Naing Oo, who serves as the National COSTI Chair and is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Delegates from various ASEAN member countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, and dialogue partners participated in the discussions. The agenda focused on reviewing the results and recommendations from the sub-committee meetings under COSTI, as well as the collaborative implementation plans for the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) for the period of 2026 to 2035.
Key topics included the priority tasks of COSTI, ongoing projects from the sub-committees, and the enhancement of cooperation in science, technology, and innovation among ASEAN nations. Significant partnerships were highlighted with external development partners, including the Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, and United States.
