Book Launch Celebrates Visionary Leadership at Andhra University

The Society for Integrated Development and Research (SIDAR), in collaboration with Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, has unveiled a book titled “Visionaries of Andhra University: Role of 19 Vice Chancellors in 100 years.” This publication is available in both English and Telugu.

During the launch event, V Balamohan Das, a former Vice Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University and co-author of the Telugu version, noted that among the 19 vice chancellors of Andhra University, 14 hailed from humanities backgrounds, while the remaining had expertise in sciences and engineering.

The chief guest at the launch, EAS Sarma, a former Union Energy Secretary, emphasized the significance of Sir C.R. Reddy, the university”s first and longest-serving Vice Chancellor. He recounted a pivotal moment when several advocates proposed relocating the university to Vijayawada, but Sir C.R. Reddy”s steadfastness ensured it remained in its original location.

G Madhu Kumar, the Secretary and Correspondent of Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College, expressed his joy at being part of the centenary celebrations, recalling his own experiences as a student during the university”s golden jubilee celebrations. He reflected on how the college began its classes on the university campus in 1973 before acquiring its current land.

Also in attendance were former vice chancellors of Andhra University, Prof. Beela Satya Narayana and Prof. GSN Raju, along with other former leaders from various state universities and Prof. KC Reddy, a former Chancellor of RGUKT and president of SIDAR.
