DOST-1 Collaborates with Universities for 2025 National Science Week

The Department of Science and Technology-Region 1 (Ilocos Region), referred to as DOST-1, has established a partnership with Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Northwestern University (NWU), and Northern Christian College (NCC) to jointly organize the upcoming 2025 National Science, Technology and Innovation Week (NSTW). This event is scheduled to take place from November 18 to 21, 2025, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

The agreement, spearheaded by DOST Regional Director Teresita Tabaog, highlights the region”s dedication to promoting advancements in science, technology, and innovation by fostering collaborations with State Universities and Colleges as well as Higher Education Institutions.

MMSU is set to engage its faculty, staff, and students in a variety of essential NSTW activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies, evening cultural events, and plenary sessions. The university will also provide ushers, ROTC marshals for traffic management, cultural performances from groups like the Nasudi Chorale and Dance Troupe, transportation for VIPs and performers, and venues for activities coordinated by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

Meanwhile, NWU will host four significant thematic forums focusing on human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability. To facilitate this, NWU plans to mobilize its officials, employees, and students for participation, while also providing faculty facilitators, IT support staff, marshals, and directional signage. Additionally, transportation services will be offered with a coaster and bus to shuttle participants among the NSTW venues in Laoag City.

NCC will actively contribute to NSTW by involving its academic community in various events, such as the Salinlahi Symposium Series and Scienteach sessions. The college”s auditorium will serve as one of the official venues for NSTW, with IT support staff on hand to ensure the smooth execution of the program.
