A national workshop titled “Communicate to Connect: Science for All” commenced on Wednesday at the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) in Palampur. This event, organized in partnership with the National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) from New Delhi, aims to foster strategies for effective science outreach and promote inclusive communication.
The two-day workshop gathered prominent scientists, communicators, and innovators to explore novel approaches for disseminating scientific knowledge across India. During the inaugural session, several esteemed speakers addressed the audience. Dr Geetha Vani Rayasam, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, emphasized the necessity of informing students and other stakeholders about the extensive scientific endeavors being carried out in India. She specifically acknowledged the contributions of scientists operating in remote areas such as Palampur.
Chandra Bhushan Singh, Chief Scientist and Head of the Popular Science Division at CSIR-NIScPR, articulated the workshop”s objective of fostering a collaborative community among participants. The focus is on developing communication techniques that resonate with diverse audiences, ensuring that scientific research is accessible and relatable to all.
This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of inclusivity in science communication, aiming to bridge gaps between researchers and the general public. By engaging various stakeholders, the workshop seeks to enhance the visibility of scientific research and its relevance in everyday life.
