Indian Immigrants Contribute Most to Host Nations, Says Economist Research

Sridhar Vembu, the founder and chief scientist of Zoho, has responded to a recent study by economist Daniel Di Martino, which underscores the financial impact of Indian immigrants in their host nations. Di Martino shared a chart titled “Positive 30-Year Fiscal Impact by Selected Countries of Origin,” asserting that Indians rank as the top major immigrant group in terms of fiscal contributions.

In his remarks, Vembu stated, “Indian immigrants make the highest fiscal contribution to their host nation, as the chart below shows.” The research indicates that an average Indian immigrant, including their descendants, would save the United States federal government approximately USD 1.7 million over a span of 30 years.

Vembu further expressed a desire for India to retain its most talented individuals in the upcoming generation, while also welcoming back those who have migrated abroad. He remarked, “From the migrant perspective, why stay where you are not welcome? Bharat Mata wants you, needs you, and welcomes you!”

Di Martino, who holds a PhD in Economics and is affiliated with the Manhattan Institute, criticized negative sentiments directed at Indian immigrants on social media, stating, “Crazy people on X are bashing Indian immigrants, but my new research published today finds that Indians are the best major country-of-origin group of immigrants.”

The significant fiscal contributions of Indian immigrants further emphasize the value they bring to their adopted countries, showcasing the potential benefits of immigration policies that attract skilled individuals.
