Omani Research and Studies Centre Opens in Kuala Lumpur

A celebration took place today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking the inauguration of the Omani Research and Studies Centre at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This Centre is designed to be a research hub focused on showcasing Oman”s rich history and civilization.

The primary objective of the Centre is to highlight the achievements and cultural heritage of Oman, promote Omani studies, and enhance awareness of their significance. It aims to attract researchers, academics, and specialists to develop studies and research related to Oman. Furthermore, the Centre seeks to foster scientific collaboration and improve cultural, academic, and research exchanges between the Sultanate of Oman and Malaysia.

During the opening speech, Ahmed Saud Al Siyabi, Secretary General of the Office of the Grand Mufti, underscored the vital role the Omani Research and Studies Centre will play in strengthening the relationship between Oman and Malaysia. He highlighted the Centre”s potential contributions through various programs and events.

Dr. Rahmah Ahmad Othman, the Director of the Omani Research and Studies Centre in Malaysia, remarked that this cultural and educational initiative represents a collaborative effort between the Office of the Grand Mufti at Oman”s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and IIUM. It reflects the commitment of both nations to create a diverse platform for thought, culture, creativity, and scientific inquiry.

Additionally, Dr. Othman noted that the forum will host events such as the Omani Cultural Exhibition and the Ninth International Conference on the Role of Oman in Promoting Ethics: Theory and Practice. These activities symbolize a mutual dedication to ethical, cognitive, and cultural leadership.

The launch ceremony coincided with the opening of the Ninth International Conference, which focuses on “The Omani Role in Promoting Ethics: Theory and Practice.” This conference will feature four main themes divided into ten sessions over three days, providing ample opportunity for discussion and collaboration.
