Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 in the capital on Monday, where he will also unveil a ₹1 lakh crore fund aimed at stimulating private sector investments in research and development.
Described as a flagship initiative in the realm of science and technology, ESTIC is expected to become an annual event. The three-day conclave will gather over 3,000 participants from various sectors, including academia, research institutions, industry, and government, alongside Nobel laureates and prominent scientists, as stated by the Prime Minister”s Office (PMO) on Sunday.
The newly established ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund aims to create a robust framework for private sector-led R&D, according to the PMO. The conclave, themed “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire,” seeks to unify India”s innovation ecosystem by connecting policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, startups, and researchers.
Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, noted that ESTIC would provide a platform to identify gaps in the current landscape, foster partnerships, and develop pathways that align scientific advancement with India”s developmental needs.
The conclave will feature a series of discussions, including speeches from leading scientists, panel discussions, presentations, and technology showcases. These activities aim to enhance collaboration among researchers, industry stakeholders, and emerging innovators to fortify India”s science and technology framework.
Key thematic areas of discussion will encompass advanced materials and manufacturing, artificial intelligence, bio-manufacturing, the blue economy, digital communications, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, emerging agricultural technologies, energy, environmental issues and climate change, health and medical technologies, quantum science and technology, and space technologies.
In addition, Dr. Singh has reviewed preparations for the upcoming India International Science Festival (IISF), scheduled to take place at Panjab University in Chandigarh from December 6 to 9. He highlighted that IISF 2025 will celebrate India”s scientific and technological progress across various sectors, embodying the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
