PUCMM Hosts Business Week 2025 to Foster Young Leadership in the Dominican Republic

Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) successfully concluded its Business Week 2025, themed “Leading the Future,” which took place in Santiago, Dominican Republic. This event brought together students, alumni, academics, business leaders, and government officials for a week filled with fresh ideas, collaboration, and forward-thinking initiatives.

The inaugural session featured a keynote address by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, who spoke on “Government and Businesses: Allies of Innovation in Competitive Markets.” Peña emphasized that innovation transcends corporate boundaries, highlighting the importance of government efforts to modernize outdated structures and enhance service efficiency for citizens.

During the opening, Dr. Secilio Espinal, the rector of PUCMM, noted that Business Week serves as a strategic platform for critical thinking and youth leadership. He challenged participants to tackle global challenges with creativity, vision, and commitment. Diana Frías, director of the School of Business at the Santiago campus, explained that the event aimed to create a significant impact on attendees” professional and personal lives, focusing on key areas such as business management, finance, and marketing.

One of the highlights of the week was the launch of the first Bloomberg Lab in the country, designed to provide access to financial data, analytical tools, and global market information. This initiative positions PUCMM as the only university in the Dominican Republic with such an academic resource, aimed at enhancing the practical training of its students.

The event”s agenda included a variety of talks, panels, and workshops addressing topics like innovation, sustainability, branding, and the application of artificial intelligence in finance. A standout presentation was delivered by Fernando Martínez, Vice President of Newlink Dominicana, who discussed the power of storytelling and the development of a purpose-driven personal brand. Martínez remarked, “True influence lies not in the number of people who hear you, but in how many are transformed by your message.” He noted that social media has become the new public square for shaping collective thought.

With Business Week 2025, PUCMM reaffirms its commitment to nurturing leaders capable of creating a more innovative and competitive business future, thereby contributing to the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic.
