The Science Journalism Forum (SJF) recently conducted a hybrid international conference that convened science journalists, editors, academics, researchers, and industry leaders from October 27 to October 30, 2025, at the Dubai Knowledge Park Conference Centre in the United Arab Emirates. The conference, themed “Science Journalism at a Crossroads – Rethinking Trust, Funding, and Innovation,” aimed to discuss the evolving landscape of science journalism.
The event featured multilingual sessions in English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Portuguese, and Mandarin, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of over 40 international partner organizations involved. Participants engaged in panels, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities, positioning SJF as a vital platform for fostering dialogue, collaboration, and advancement in the field of science journalism worldwide.
Notable strategic partners included Knight Science Journalism, Chemical and Engineering News (C&EN), and The Open Notebook. The Sunday Independent was represented by one of its columnists who attended as a hybrid participant, contributing to the rich tapestry of voices at the conference.
