The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently organized a curtain raiser for the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025) at its headquarters in Bengaluru. This event aimed to highlight the development of emerging space technologies. The ESTIC, under the auspices of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), seeks to unite innovators, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and academic institutions to enhance India”s innovation ecosystem.
Scheduled to take place from November 3 to November 5 in New Delhi, the conclave will feature 11 thematic sessions that encourage collaboration across various emerging technologies. This initiative aligns with the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047,” which aims for a developed India by the centenary of its independence.
During the keynote address at the curtain raiser, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan emphasized the significance of ESTIC in fostering an innovation culture within the country. He reiterated ISRO”s dedication to excellence in research, capacity building, and partnerships that bolster national advancements in space and related technologies.
A. Rajarajan, director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and chairman of ESTIC”s Space Technologies Thematic Committee, provided insights into the conclave”s objectives. He highlighted the need to showcase India”s achievements in space, upcoming missions, and the innovation roadmap leading to Viksit Bharat 2047. Rajarajan stressed the importance of empowering young leaders, supporting women entrepreneurs, and fostering collaboration between industry and academia.
The ESTIC 2025 initiative is a collaborative effort involving 13 central ministries, aimed at accelerating deep-tech innovation, promoting startups, and positioning India as a leader in global scientific endeavors in the coming decades. Participants at the curtain raiser included Science Secretary M. Ganesh Pillai, senior scientists, officials, and media representatives.
