November”s Supermoon to Shine Brightest This Year on Wednesday Night

The moon will appear noticeably larger and brighter this Wednesday night as it reaches its closest point to Earth for the year, marking the occurrence of November”s supermoon.

The moon”s orbit is elliptical, resulting in varying distances from Earth as it completes its cycle. A supermoon is defined as a full moon that aligns closely with Earth in its orbit, leading to a visual increase in size and brightness. According to NASA, this phenomenon can make the moon appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter compared to the least luminous moon of the year.

This supermoon is notable not only for its size and brightness but also because it is the second of three supermoons occurring this year. It will come within approximately 222,000 miles (357,000 kilometers) of Earth, making it the closest supermoon of 2023.
