AI in Creative Economy Discussed at CPRG Roundtable Ahead of Impact Summit 2026

The Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) recently held a roundtable titled “AI in the Creative Economy in India” in Mumbai, serving as a prelude to the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026. This seminar brought together filmmakers, creative professionals, and industry representatives to explore the potential of artificial intelligence in enhancing the creative sectors and contributing to India”s digital economy.

During the event, Dr. Ramanand, the Director of CPRG, emphasized the critical juncture at which the creative economy finds itself. He stated, “As AI reshapes art, media, and entertainment, we must ensure it amplifies human imagination rather than replacing it.” This dialogue is seen as a significant step in formulating policies that leverage AI for creativity, culture, and expression rather than merely for efficiency.

Ashish Chauhan, the Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange of India, echoed Dr. Ramanand”s sentiments, commenting on the transformative power of technology throughout history. He noted that AI represents another pivotal moment, with unprecedented technological advancements creating new opportunities and industries.

The roundtable is part of CPRG”s broader initiative titled “Future of Society,” which investigates how emerging technologies are altering institutions and daily life. The seminar aims to place inclusion at the forefront of India”s AI policy agenda. Notably, CPRG was the sole Indian NGO to host an official side event at the Paris AI Action Summit 2025 and has received recognition at leading global forums, including the Belgrade GPAI Summit 2024.

Earlier this year, CPRG organized the PadhAI Conclave 2025, a national policy platform focused on AI in education, which gathered senior ministers, policymakers, and academics. Building on this momentum, CPRG plans to continue its series of events leading up to the 2026 Summit, reinforcing its dedication to inclusive technology policy.

Several speakers contributed valuable insights on AI”s impact on content creation, storytelling, and audience engagement. They stressed the importance of establishing ethical frameworks, fostering creative collaboration, and promoting inclusive innovation to ensure that the benefits of AI are distributed throughout the creative ecosystem. Prominent attendees included Neeraj Roy, Founder and CEO of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Ltd, Swetha Singh from VidUnit & PunToon Kids, Vijay Koshy, President of The Viral Fever, and Sudeep Lahiri, Head of Collective Media Networks at Collective Artists Network.
