Dr. Pei-Zen Chang has been appointed as the new President of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) as announced on October 28, 2025. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Chang highlighted the importance of innovation as the cornerstone of Taiwan”s industrial advancement.
Amidst global changes and swift technological progress, he affirmed that ITRI will maintain its role as a trusted advisor to the government and a dependable partner for industry. Dr. Chang laid out three primary objectives for ITRI”s future: fostering talent through interdisciplinary collaboration to push forward advanced technologies; speeding up industrial transformation in both high-tech and traditional fields; and enhancing international relations to connect Taiwan with global partners and showcase the nation”s leadership in innovation.
Dr. Chang obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Cornell University, following his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU). He is a well-respected figure in technology policy and research and development management, having served in several key positions. His experience includes roles as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Executive Yuan”s Science and Technology Group, Chairman of the Nanotechnology and Micro System Association, Secretary General of NTU, Executive Vice President of ITRI, and Dean of D-School at NTU.
His research interests include mechatronic systems, industrial sensing, and digital technologies, which are critical areas as industries continue to adapt to changing market needs.
