Hyderabad is increasingly recognized as a global center for system design, according to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Speaking at the Bioinspired Frontiers 2025 International Conference focused on Space Economy, Biomimicry, and Extraterrestrial Resources, he emphasized the city”s long-standing identity as a hub for science and innovation.
During his address, Bhatti extended an invitation to international research institutions, investors, and innovators to collaborate with the state of Telangana. He assured attendees of the availability of world-class infrastructure and a conducive ecosystem under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Welcoming delegates from around the globe, Bhatti portrayed Hyderabad as a unique city where “the precision of science meets the poetry of imagination.” He reflected on the city”s historic contributions to India”s scientific development, mentioning significant institutions such as the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) labs, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL). These organizations have been foundational in advancing the nation”s aerospace, metallurgy, and electronics sectors.
Bhatti noted that this legacy has spurred a new wave of innovators, citing startups like Skyroot Aerospace and Dhruva Space as examples of how high-quality systems are being developed in Telangana. He pointed out that numerous emerging companies in fields such as robotics, materials science, and 3D printing are transforming India”s space economy, collaborating with leading institutions like IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, and T-Works.
Outlining the “Telangana Model of Innovation,” Bhatti explained that public institutions provide the essential groundwork, while startups build on this foundation, and universities foster talent. The state”s focus on innovation, manufacturing, and sustainability is evident in its industrial clusters located in Adibatla, e-City, Genome Valley, and the upcoming Telangana Mobility Valley.
Highlighting the principle that “nature is the original engineer,” he stated that Telangana is embracing biomimetic designs and green technologies as part of its development strategy. Bhatti expressed the ambition for the state to serve as a launchpad for India”s growing space economy, positioning Hyderabad as a vital link “between knowledge and discovery, between Earth and sky.” The conference was attended by senior officials, including Transco CMD D. Krishna Bhaskar and GEOPAQ CEO M. Abbas.
