Oxford Instruments has unveiled its latest innovation, the witec360 Raman microscope integrated with the Hexalight spectrometer, during an announcement made on November 3, 2025. This cutting-edge system aims to set a new standard in confocal Raman imaging and analysis, enhancing research capabilities for institutions and industries throughout Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian region.
The witec360 microscope builds on the established success of the WITec alpha300 series, offering improved light transmission and advanced automation. Its optimized confocal beam path significantly enhances performance from laser to detector. The system is available in standard and inverted configurations, enabling high-speed Raman imaging suited for a range of applications, including materials science, life sciences, and semiconductor research.
Central to the witec360″s capabilities is the Hexalight spectrometer, which boasts a next-generation design featuring proprietary lenses that allow for exceptional optical throughput across wavelengths from 350 to 1100 nm. The innovative harmonic drive of the spectrometer positions up to six gratings with remarkable precision, ensuring superior spectral resolution and flexibility. Compact and easily configurable, Hexalight merges the sensitivity of the UHTS series with enhanced optical efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
“The witec360 with Hexalight signifies a major advancement in Raman microscopy,” stated Dr. Benjamin Tordoff, General Manager of Raman Microscopy at Oxford Instruments. “We are thrilled to introduce this groundbreaking technology to Singapore and Southeast Asia, enabling researchers to investigate materials and biological systems with greater speed, precision, and experimental flexibility.”
Sabrina Hakelberg, the Raman Microscopy Product Manager, emphasized the modular nature of the witec360, stating, “Its architecture is tailored for multidisciplinary laboratories and core facilities, allowing scientists to customize their systems to address diverse research needs and maintain a leading edge in discovery.”
In its ongoing commitment to the region, Oxford Instruments is expanding its presence in Asia by providing dedicated technical and application support from its base in Singapore. This initiative aims to ensure that both research and industry users can maximize the performance of the witec360 and Hexalight systems.
