Starlink, owned by SpaceX, has commenced its first hiring phase in India as it prepares for a much-anticipated satellite broadband service launch. The company has listed multiple job openings on its LinkedIn page and the SpaceX careers portal, targeting roles primarily in finance and accounting.
Available positions include tax manager, accounting manager, payments manager, and senior treasury analyst, all based in Bengaluru, which serves as Starlink”s operational hub in India. The company stated, “As Starlink expands its global footprint to deliver low-latency satellite broadband services worldwide, its Indian subsidiary is looking to hire an accounting manager to oversee financial reporting and compliance.” The role involves developing and enhancing accounting, reporting, and statutory compliance systems to support Starlink”s operations in the region.
Starlink has emphasized that only local candidates with valid work authorization will be considered for these positions, and remote or hybrid work options are not available. This recruitment is part of Starlink”s efforts to roll out its commercial satellite internet services in India, expected to launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
In line with government regulations, the company is currently establishing ground infrastructure and conducting necessary security trials. Earlier, Starlink demonstrated its broadband service to officials in Mumbai to meet the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) requirements for lawful interception and security compliance prior to spectrum allocation.
Reports indicate that Starlink has sought permission to set up three gateway stations in Mumbai, Chennai, and Noida. Following the initial launch, the company plans to establish an additional nine to ten gateway locations, including sites in Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow.
Once operational, Starlink will face competition from Jio Satellite and Eutelsat OneWeb, both of which have secured regulatory approvals but are still awaiting final spectrum allocation. The frameworks for pricing and allocation of satellite broadband spectrum are currently being finalized by the DoT and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
